Fourier Number
The Fourier number (Fo) is a dimensionless parameter used in heat transfer analysis. It’s defined as the ratio of the rate of heat conduction within a solid to the rate of heat storage within the solid.
Fourier number is used in heat transfer in general and unsteady state heat transfer calculations in particular. It is normally defined in one of the following forms :
